Challenge:
Royal Caribbean’s CruiseTours, offering guided city tours before returning to the cruise ship, struggled to resonate with the retiree demographic. Many potential customers were hesitant to explore unfamiliar destinations without a sense of familiarity and reassurance.
Insight:
Retirees respond positively to in-person engagement and storytelling that highlights safety, enjoyment, and personal connection. A relatable narrative could help alleviate fears and build interest in CruiseTours.
Opportunity:
To create a unique, engaging experience that addressed retirees’ concerns and showcased the benefits of CruiseTours in a memorable way.
Solution:
I developed and produced a 60-minute play featuring actors portraying a couple sharing their positive experiences with CruiseTours. The play incorporated Photoshopped “vacation” photos to enhance the storytelling, creating a vivid and relatable depiction of the CruiseTours experience. A professional New York theater director was brought in to ensure high-quality production and audience engagement.
Results:
- 30% Increase in CruiseTour bookings among retirees.
- Successfully reshaped audience perceptions, presenting CruiseTours as safe, enjoyable, and enriching.
- Fostered stronger connections with the retiree demographic, leading to increased interest and brand loyalty.
