WHAT I DID

You were about to ask “What did you do?” So I made you a checklist.

OBJECTIVE

Rapidly scale enrollment marketing for a private K-12 school in an affluent South Florida market, capitalizing on a population influx and the launch of a brand-new high school division.

CHALLENGE

The school had grown almost entirely on word-of-mouth, which works beautifully until you need to grow faster than your reputation can travel. The pandemic changed the math overnight. Families were leaving cities like New York in droves, chasing more relaxed COVID policies and imagining a better quality of life. What many of them found instead was a public school system that didn’t come close to what they’d left behind. These were educated, high-income parents who had uprooted their lives and were now actively, urgently looking for alternatives. At the same time, the school launched a brand-new high school division that needed to fill seats from scratch. A brand that had never needed to market itself was suddenly sitting on the biggest enrollment opportunity in its history, with no digital infrastructure, no performance media history, and no data on what actually moved a parent from “I’ve heard of them” to “I’m filling out an application.”

INSIGHT

Private school enrollment isn’t an impulse decision. It’s a 21-day consideration cycle (we’d later prove this with attribution data), and it’s rarely one person’s call. One parent initiates the search. Then they need buy-in from the other parent. Then the kid needs to feel good about it. That’s three decision-makers in one household, each warming up on their own timeline. By using IP targeting at the household level, we made sure every screen in the house was seeing the school before the family conversation ever happened. When Mom finally brought it up at dinner, Dad had already seen the campus video and the kid had already seen the vibe. That’s not awareness. That’s pre-sold consensus. And in a market flooded with new residents, the school that builds that familiarity first wins the families who don’t yet have a default.

OPPORTUNITY

Use the population influx as an acquisition window. Transplant families arriving from major metro areas were actively discovering that the local public school system wasn’t going to cut it. That disappointment was the trigger. The moment a parent realizes the public option isn’t what they expected is the moment they start searching for alternatives, and the school that shows up first with a credible, well-presented case wins. Layer programmatic precision on top of that timing: IP-target high-income households, geofence public schools, and build retargeting pools that nurture interest across weeks, not days. Then measure everything deterministically so the school knows exactly which dollars drove which applications.

SOLUTION

Programmatic Microtargeting.

Built campaigns targeting high-household-income families in the school’s catchment area using demographic, behavioral, and contextual signals. Every impression was designed to reach parents already in or entering the school decision cycle.

Competitive Geofencing.

Deployed geofencing around local public schools, serving ads to parents who were physically present at the campuses they were about to be disappointed by. These weren’t families choosing between private options. They were families discovering in real time that the public system wasn’t what they’d expected. Meeting them at that exact moment of frustration with a polished alternative was the highest-intent targeting in the entire campaign.

Interactive and Video Creative.

Developed enhanced display and video ads that drove engagement well above benchmark. Video completion rates hit 58.4%, and enhanced display pulled a 5.47% engagement rate, both indicators that the creative was resonating, not just reaching.

Cross-Channel Attribution.

Implemented deterministic analytics that tracked user journeys from first ad exposure through site visit to application. This wasn’t modeled or estimated. We could see the actual path: roughly 21 days from first impression to site visit, then 2-3 days from visit to conversion. That data reshaped budget allocation in real time.

Retargeting and Nurture.

Built retargeting pools from site visitors and engaged users, then served sequenced creative that moved parents from awareness to inquiry to application. The system compounded: every campaign cycle produced a larger, warmer audience for the next.

A/B Optimization.

Continuously tested creative, audience segments, and landing pages to improve performance throughout the campaign. Refined targeting based on what the data showed, not what we assumed.

RESULTS

  • 8,198 unique visitors driven to the site in three months
  • 341 “Inquire” clicks and 262 “Apply” clicks from paid media
  • 434 total conversions at a 5.6% site conversion rate
  • Media-influenced visitors converted at 9.46% vs. 5.29% for non-influenced, proving the campaigns didn’t just drive traffic but drove better traffic
  • 0.97% CTR across 340,777 impressions (3,315 clicks)
  • 58.4% video completion rate
  • 5.47% engagement rate on enhanced display
  • Attribution data confirmed a ~21-day consideration window and ~2.7-3 day conversion window, insights that informed ongoing media strategy
  • Built durable retargeting pools that continued producing leads beyond the initial campaign flight
